DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore Sarah Moore (Lisbon, Maine) of the University of New Hampshire women's track and field team and senior Yoofi Abaka-Amuah (Worcester, Mass.) of the UNH men's track and field team were named the Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week on May 13.
Sarah won gold in the long jump, was part of the school record-setting 4x100 meter relay and ran a personal-best in the 200m at the 2026 America East Outdoor Track & Field Championships that were held May 9-10 at UMass Lowell.
Sarah, who recorded all three recorded leaps longer than 6.0 meters, led from start to finish in the field of 32 competitors to successfully defend her outdoor long jump title. She recorded a mark of 6.03m on her first attempt, followed by 6.04m and then recorded her winning effort of 6.13m (20 feet-1.5 inches) in the third round.
Sarah has won three consecutive America East long jump titles spanning the 2025 outdoor, 2026 indoor and 2026 outdoor seasons.
Sarah combined with classmates Mariam Nada (Portsmouth, N.H.) and Eva Roberts (Derry, N.H.) and junior Audrey Thornton (Reading, Mass.) to break their own school record in the 4x100m relay with a time of 46.23 seconds. That fourth-place effort bested the previous benchmark of 46.62 established last season.
Sarah raced to sixth place in the 200m final with a personal-best time of 24.21 seconds that topped the school record of 24.74 but did not enter the record book as the new benchmark because it was wind-aided by more than 2.0 meters/second at +4.5 m/s.
Sarah is currently ranked in the top 48 in the long jump in the East region at #39, which would qualify to compete at the NCAA First Round May 27-30 at the University of Kentucky.
Yoofi earned a total of 22 team points at the America East Championships with a gold medal in the shot put and bronze medal in both the hammer and discus. It was a half-point behind the top scoring men's athlete at the meet.
Yoofi won the shot put for the second consecutive year with a throw of 18.85 meters (61 feet-10.25 inches) on his fifth attempt. He led from start to finish after recording a mark of 17.26m in the first round. Yoofi is the eighth man and first since UNH's Zachary Astle (2019, 2021) to win consecutive shot put titles.
Earlier in the day, Yoofi was the top 'Cat and third overall in the discus at 51.32m (168-4) on his fifth throw. He was in second place after his first-round throw of 50.35m, but he was bumped to third in the third round.
Yoofi entered the hammer finals in third place with a mark of 59.35m and was in fifth place when he recorded a throw of 64.63m to climb into second place. He recorded a personal-best effort of 65.03m (215-1) on his last throw and finished in third place.
Yoofi is currently ranked #13 in the shot put and #25 in the hammer in the East region, which qualifies him to compete in both events at the NCAA First Round May 27-30 at the University of Kentucky.
