Men’s Soccer Hosts Hartford Friday on Senior Night (7 p.m.)

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team is set to host America East foe Hartford University Friday night at 7 p.m. on Bremner Field. It is also senior recognition night and a pregame ceremony to honor the eight Wildcat seniors will be held prior to kickoff.
The men's soccer team will be selling Operation Hat Trick hats for $20 at Friday's match against Hartford to raise money and awareness for OHT. On Wednesday, Nov. 4 against Vermont, the program will host OHT night and honor Dr. Steve and Donna Harvey whose son, Nate Hardy, was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2008. The program raises awareness and support for wounded service members and veterans through the sale of OHT branded merchandise and donates to those organizations that support OHT's mission. The program is dedicated in the memory of Nate Hardy and Mike Koch, who also lost his life while fighting for his country.
SALUTING THE SENIORS: Prior to Friday's game, eight seniors will be recognized and honored for their commitment and contributions to the program during their time as a Wildcat. Those who are being honored are Jimmy Petruccelli (Newfields, N.H.), A.J. Albers (Eagan, Minn.), co-captain Andrew Chaput (Manchester, N.H.), Ben Ramin (Baldwinsville, N.Y.), Fazal Nabi (Portland, Maine) Lukas Goerigk (Berlin, Germany), Connor Pauley (Londonderry, N.H.) and Ryan Carpenter (Newmarket, N.H.).
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE: The Wildcats (9-3-3, 2-2-1 AE) are coming off a 2-0 home victory over No. 24 Dartmouth College on Tuesday, Oct. 27. After a scoreless first half, Nabi gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead in the 60th minute and a 2-0 lead in the 63rd minute. Sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Pesci (Windham, N.H.) earned his second shutout-win of the season after making three saves in the effort.
Junior co-captain Chris Wingate (Hovik, Norway) leads the 'Cats on offense with six goals and three assists for 15 points. Nabi is right behind him with 12 points stemming from five goals and two assists. Rookie Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) has nine points on two goals and five assists while Albers has eight points on four goals. Ramin has three goals and one assist for seven points while Pauley splits his six points on two goals and two assists. Junior Karl Frisk (Molndal, Sweden) has three points on a goal and an assist. Junior Riley Ellis (Goffstown, N.H.) and freshman Alex Valencia (Tracy, Calif.) have two points on a goal each while Goerigk and junior Duff Thomson (Newton, N.H.) have a pair of assists apiece. Chaput rounds out the points with one assist.
Carpenter has started all 13 games that he has played and comes in with a record of 7-3-3 with three shutouts. He holds a 1.01 goals against average and a .674 save percentage. Pesci holds a 2-0-0 record with a pair of shutouts. He has made three saves on the season.
SCOUTING HARTFORD: The Hawks (4-6-5, 0-3-2 AE) most recently played to a 1-0 defeat at Stony Brook University on Saturday, Oct. 24. The game remained scoreless until the 86th minute when the Seawolves netted what would prove to be the game winner. Hartford keeper David MacKinnon made four saves in net on five shots faced.
Javoni Simms leads the Hawks on offense with 10 points from five goals. Jeff Tryon has eight points on three goals and two assists while Brian Richards has two goals and three assists for seven points. Mikkel Song has six points, all of which are from assists. MacKinnon has played all 15 games and holds a record of 4-6-5 with three shutouts. He has a goals against average of 1.15 and a save percentage of .672.
WHAT'S UP NEXT? The Wildcats close out the regular season with a tilt on Wednesday, Nov. 4 against the University of Vermont. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
