Women’s Cross Country Takes on CCSU Mini Meet (Oct. 23; 4 p.m.)

DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's cross country team is ready for the Central Connecticut State University Mini Meet on Friday, Oct. 23 at Stanley Park in New Britain, Connecticut.
The 3K race gives the Wildcats a chance to build student-athletes for the future, as well as prepare for championship season around the corner.
LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats placed 21st at Pre Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky against 45 of the top cross country schools in the country last weekend (Oct. 17), finishing with 597 points.

NORTHEAST REGIONAL POLL
The Wildcats still hold the eighth spot in the Northeast Regional Poll, released Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The 'Cats have been ranked in the weekly regional poll every week for the past two seasons.
SZYMANSKI SUCCESS
Sophomore Amanda Szymanski (Londonderry, N.H.) will lead the pack after placing 46th in Boston last week (Oct 10) at the New England Cross Country Championships, running a season best time of 18 minutes, 34.7 seconds in the 5K race. Three weeks earlier (Sept. 10), she finished second out of 29 runners in the Maine and New Hampshire Dual Meet, breaking the tape in 19:22. On Sept. 12, Szymanski wrapped up the race at Stony Brook University in 20:31.8, orchestrating a 21st place finish. In the first race of the season, she recorded her second personal-best time of the season in the 5K with a time of 19:18.3 in Durham.
SOPHOMORES SOUND OFF
Sophomores Kayla Farren (Nashua, N.H.) and Angelyn Masters (Bangor, Maine) both participated in the 5K race at New Englands on Oct. 10. Masters completed the race in 18:52.3 for 76th place while Farren finished with a time of 19:13.7, placing 106th. Sophomore Mary De Vries (Delmar, N.Y.) also competed at New Englands and finished 69th overall among junior varsity runners with a time of 20:07.9.
FRESHMAN RACES FOURTH
Freshman Carina Berglund (Tewksbury, Mass.) recorded a personal best in the 5K at New Englands with a time of 20:01.8 at the junior varsity race. In her first two races of the season, she ran the 5K at Maine (Sept. 28) and a meet against Holy Cross and Providence (Sept. 5) finishing 15th and 32nd, respectively.
New Hampshire takes on the conference at the America East Championship on Saturday, Oct. 31 hosted by Stony Brook.
