Men's Soccer Falls to Albany, 1-0

ALBANY, N.Y. – Despite outshooting its opponent, the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to the University at Albany Saturday afternoon at Varsity Field.
The loss drops UNH to 6-9-2 overall and 1-4-2 in America East play, while Albany improves to 5-9-3 and 1-3-3 in conference action, earning the No. 6 seed in the America East Championships.
Both squads were held scoreless for a greater portion of the contest until Quintel Gates punched in a game-winning goal at 69:14 to propel the home team to victory. Jeff Pierre crossed a pass to the middle of the box and Gates connected with it and put it in the back of the net.
New Hampshire held the edge in shots (8-7), including a 4-1 advantage in the first frame. Both teams were even in corner kicks with four apiece. Brad Hilton (Merrimack, N.H.) and Steven Palumbo (Kingston, N.H.) led UNH with two shots apiece, including one on goal attempt each.
The Wildcats are back in action Tuesday, Nov. 1 (7 p.m.) when they take on Dartmouth College at Bremner Field.
