Tasmin Cookman, a sophomore forward and captain on the UNH field hockey team, had a dominant weekend in which she scored three goals and had an assist in both games versus Maine and Merrimack. Those two hat tricks were the third of the season for Tasmin and fifth in her career. Both the three goals and seven points matched her career highs.
Following a scoreless first half vs. Maine, Tasmin set up the first goal of the game and then scored goals 3 minutes, 7 seconds apart at 35:05 and 38:12 to extend the lead to 3-0. She struck again at 56:30 to push the advantage to 5-0.
Tasmin scored the first two goals of the game against Merrimack at 2:28 and 7:15, then completed her hat trick at 17:15 to give UNH a 5-0 lead. She set up the final tally at 46:37 and exited the game.
Tasmin is first on the team and in America East in goals with 18. She also leads the league and team in points (41).
The field hockey team will travel to UAlbany on Friday, Oct. 20 for a 2 p.m. matchup. Then on Friday, Oct. 27 (2 p.m.), the Wildcats will be back in Durham to play against Cal.
