Sarah Williams (Dover, N.H.), a senior on the UNH women's track & field team, broke the school record in the weight throw at the John Thomas Terrier Classic that was held at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center on Jan. 28.
Sarah broke the UNH record with a throw of 59-feet, 1.50 inches and placed fourth out of 31 competitors. UNH's previous benchmark of 58-8 was set by Ashlee Lathrop in 2010. Sarah is now the UNH record holder in two events; she set the benchmark in the outdoor shot put in 2021.
Sarah also recorded a 14th-place finish (28 entrants) in the shot put at the John Thomas Terrier Classic with a throw of 40-5.
Two days later (Jan. 30) at the Maine Open Invitational, Sarah continued her outstanding season with victories in both the weight throw (57-5.5) and shot put (40-5.5).
The UNH women's track & field team is scheduled to return to action Feb. 4-5 at the New England Championships, which will be held at Northeastern University's Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center (Roxbury, Mass.).
