MELBOURNE, Australia – University of New Hampshire women's soccer alumna Ally Giovino '25 has signed with Eltham Redbacks FC in Melbourne, Australia, of the Victorian Premier League Women's (VPLW).
"I'm very excited to be playing semi-professional soccer in Australia," said Giovino. "I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a supportive culture and community here at Eltham Redbacks FC. I'm looking forward to continuing to grow and compete in the game I love!"
A native of Westford, Mass., Giovino played the 2024 season at UNH as she earned her MBA. She appeared in all 18 games with 17 starts as a forward, posting one goal and two assists for four points. Giovino helped the Wildcats to their third America East Championship game in four years at the time and to one of the best years in UNH women's soccer history going 12-5-1. UNH set many major milestones that year.
"We are really happy for Ally to continue playing and taking her game to the next level," said UNH women's soccer heads coach Steve Welham. "She truly gets the 'best of both worlds' in this situation. She is experiencing one of the most beautiful countries in the world while playing the beautiful game…a pretty sweet combination. Good luck and enjoy Ally!" said UNH women's soccer head coach Steve Welham.
Before her time in Durham, Giovino was a member of the Colgate women's soccer team as she was named to the Third Team All-Patriot League (2022) and First Team All-Patriot League (Fall-2021) in her time as a Raider.
Giovino is one of nine UNH women's soccer players who have turned professional starting in 2016.
