Jim Wrobel is currently in his eighth season at UNH in 2024-25 as an Associate Director of Athletic Communications after serving 12 years with the College of the Holy Cross.
Wrobel is the primary communications director for the men's hockey and men's soccer teams, and serves as the department's Social Media Coordinator. He is also the coordinator of the Communications Track of the Wildcat Internship Program. Wrobel has been very involved with the coverage of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and its annual event Bench Out The Stigma. Wrobel also serves as the producer for the Athletic Department's annual awards show.
During his time at UNH, Wrobel has traveled with the men's hockey team including covering the team's experience at the 2019 Friendship Four in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Also, he served as the Media Director at the 2019 and 2023 Division I Men's Hockey Northeast Regional in Manchester, N.H.
Wrobel is responsible for the publicity of the nationally ranked men's soccer team and has been the Media Director for seven home NCAA Tournament games (2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023). He traveled to Indiana University for the 2017 NCAA Round of 16. He also covered the team on its trip on the New England Patriots airplane for the 2021 NCAA Round of 16 versus No. 1 Oregon State.
In his eight seasons, Wrobel has covered seven teams that have won the America East Championship (Men's Soccer-2018, 2019, 2020 & 2022; Swimming and Diving-2018, 2020, 2023). He has also publicized 18 All-Americans.
At Holy Cross, he served as the department's primary media contact for the men's ice hockey team, in addition to working with the men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's rowing, men's and women's soccer, volleyball, tennis, golf, softball and baseball squads.
Wrobel became a full-time member of the Holy Cross athletic media relations staff in August of 2006, after spending the previous year as an intern in the department. He worked with the men's ice hockey team during the 2005-2006 season, as it advanced to the final eight of the NCAA Tournament, posting a 4-3 overtime victory over Minnesota in the opening round. Wrobel also handled the publicity for 2014 Hockey Humanitarian Award winner Jeffrey Reppucci, and served as assistant media director for the NCAA men’s ice hockey Northeast regional in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016.
Prior to his time at Holy Cross, Wrobel spent one year as a media relations assistant at UMass where he worked with the men's soccer, baseball, women's rowing, swimming & diving and water polo teams. He also spent four years as a student assistant in the media relations office at UMass, working with the water polo teams while assisting with several other sports.
A native of Medway, Mass., Wrobel is a 2000 graduate of UMass with a bachelor's degree in sport management.
