Nina Rossi Tabbed Hockey East Rookie of the Month

Rossi scored a team-high five points in December
AMESBURY, Mass. — University of New Hampshire freshman forward Nina Rossi (Pittsgrove, N.J.) was named Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month on Wednesday (Jan. 6). The nomination marks Rossi's fourth league award of the season, previously taking home top rookie honors on Nov. 10 and Dec. 8 alongside Hockey East Player of the Week on Oct. 6.
Rossi was pivotal piece on offense for the Wildcats in December, notching a team-leading five points across New Hampshire's three games, averaging 1.67 points per game. Rossi opened the scoring for the Wildcats in their 4-3 overtime win over No. 6 Northeastern on Dec. 2, netting a goal while shorthanded early in the second period to kickstart the Wildcats' comeback, before exploding for two assists and the game-tying goal against Maine with 14.9 seconds remaining in the third period on Dec. 5 for her fourth multi-point game and third three point game of the season. Rossi closed out the month with an assist against Maine on Dec. 6.
With the award, Rossi becomes the ninth winner of a league honor this season, previously winning on Dec. 8, Nov. 10 and Oct. 6, and joining Sadie Makokis (St. Albert, Alberta) (Jan. 5), Noemi Martinez (Glen Ridge, N.J.) (Dec. 1), Addison Spitz (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) (Nov. 3), Josie Linn (Excelsior, Minn.) (Nov. 3), and Aurora Kahlert (Maple Ridge, British Columbia) (Oct. 13).
