Ski Closes Out Colby Carnival in Third Place

The men’s team finished the day in sixth while the women closed out in fourth.

WATERVILLE, MAINE — Sophomores Clara Hegan (Ottawa, Ontario) and Natalie Nicholas (Bozeman, Mont.) finished fifth and sixth overall in the women's 7.5km classic race, skiing in 24:12.9 and 24:14.8 times, respectively, while Galen Grohusky (Hailey, Idaho) (21:21.5) finished in 10^th place in the men's 7.5km classic race, headlining the University of New Hampshire's Nordic ski team's closing day at the Colby Carnival.

Following the 7.5km classic races, the men's team finished the day in sixth place with 68 points while the women's team closed out the day in fourth place with 101 points, trailing Dartmouth in first place with 114 points, Vermont in second place with 113 points, and Middlebury in third with 104 points. Overall, the Wildcats closed out the Colby Carnival in third place with 733.5 points, trailing Dartmouth in first with 869 points and Vermont in second with 810.5 points.

The UNH ski team continues their 2026 season at the Dartmouth Carnival on Friday, Jan. 30, when the Nordic team competes in the classic 7.5km race at Oak Hill in Hanover, N.H., while the alpine team competes in the giant slalom at Dartmouth Skiway in Lyme, N.H.
