Ski Closes Opening Day at Dartmouth Carnival in Fourth Place

The women’s alpine team paced the day with a third-place finish.
HANOVER, N.H. — Senior Hattie Barker (Underhill, Vt.) finished fifth overall in the women's 7.5k classic race, skiing in 24:26.80, while Tilde Kandell (Leksand, Sweden) (59.3, 1:02.26; 2:01.56) and Roman Elvidge (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) (57.06, 1:00; 1:57.06) finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the men's and women's giant slalom events, headlining the University of New Hampshire's ski team's opening day at the Dartmouth Carnival.
On the Nordic side, both the men's and women's teams finished the day in fourth place, with the men receiving 87 points, trailing Vermont (1st, 135), Middlebury (2nd, 113), and Dartmouth (3rd, 92) while the women earned 97 points, behind Vermont (1st, 125), Dartmouth (2nd, 116), and Middlebury (3rd, 99). On the alpine side, the men's team finished the day in sixth place with 67 points while the women finished in third place with 101 points. Overall, the Wildcats closed out the opening day of the Dartmouth Carnival in fourth place with 352 points, behind Vermont (1st, 481), Dartmouth (2nd, 451), and Middlebury (3rd, 398).
