Three 'Cats Podium in Opening Day at Williams Carnival

Jayden Buckrell, Hedda Martelleur, and Hattie Barker all finished third place in their respective races.
HANCOCK, Mass. — Senior Hattie Barker (Underhill, Vt.) (27:50.8) skied to a third-place finish in the women's freestyle 15k race, while Jayden Buckrell (Collingwood, Ontario) (44.76, 47.53; 1:32.29) and Hedda Martelleur (Uppsala, Sweden) (46.04, 49.32; 1:35.36) each finished third in the men's and women's giant slalom, respectively, headlining the University of New Hampshire's ski team's opening day at the Williams Carnival.
On the Nordic side, the men's team finished the day in seventh place with 60 points, while the women's team finished in third place with 94 points, trailing Dartmouth (first, 122 points) and Vermont (second, 114 points). On the alpine side, both the men's and women's teams finished in second place with 101.5 and 109 points, respectively, with each team trailing Vermont. Overall, the Wildcats closed out the opening day at the Williams Carnival in fourth place with 364.5 points, trailing Dartmouth, Vermont, and Middlebury.
