Elvidge Wins Giant Slalom, Paces Alpine in Third Day at St. Lawrence Carnival

Roman Elvidge skied a carnival-best 2:06.22 while the women’s team finished first in the giant slalom

WILMINGTON, N.Y. — Freshman Roman Elvidge (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) finished first overall in the men's giant slalom event, skiing in 1:02.40 and 1:03.82 runs for a 2:06.22 finish, while Tilde Kandell (Leksand, Sweden) finished fifth overall in the women's giant slalom (1:05.10, 1:07.91; 2:13.01), headlining the University of New Hampshire's Alpine ski team's first day in the St. Lawrence Carnival.

Following the giant slalom, the men's team finished the day in third place with 104 points, trailing Dartmouth in first place with 124 points Middlebury in second place with 108 points, while the women's team closed out the day in first place with 101 points. Overall, the Wildcats are in third place with 574.5 points, behind carnival-leading Dartmouth with 646 points and Vermont with 625 points.
