Buckrell Tops Giant Slalom Competition, Paces Alpine Following Second Day at Colby Carnival

Buckrell topped the men’s competition for the second day in a row.

KINGFIELD, MAINE — Sophomore Jayden Buckrell (Collingwood, Ontario) finished first overall in the men's giant slalom event, skiing in 1:04.19 and 1:05.46 runs for a 2:09.65 finish, while Benedetta Caloro (Rome, Italy) finished sixth overall in the women's giant slalom (1:07.93, 1:08.27; 2:16.20), headlining the University of New Hampshire's Alpine ski team's closing day in the Colby Carnival.

Following the Alpine leg of the carnival in Kingfield, the men's team finished in third place with 86.5 points, trailing Dartmouth (128 points) and Boston College (98 points), while the women's team finished in third with 100 points, leaving the Wildcats in second place overall ahead of the Nordic competition on Jan. 23-24.
