The award is presented to the top goaltender across Division I NCAA women’s hockey
DURHAM, N.H. — University of New Hampshire junior goaltenders Sedona Blair (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and Noemi Martinez (Glen Ridge, N.J.) are two of 31 goaltenders selected to the 2026 National Women's Goalie of the Year Watch List, as announced Wednesday by the Women's Hockey Commissioners Association.
Created in 2021, the award recognizes the top female goaltender in Women's NCAA Division I ice hockey. Goalies qualified for the initial 'Watch List' by meeting minimum standards in either goals against average (2.20 or lower) or save percentage (.923 or higher).
In 15 games this season, Blair has guided the Wildcats to a 6-6-3 record between the pipes while posting 411 saves and one shutout. Nationally, Blair's .930 save percentage ranks 15th among goaltenders while her 2.05 goals against average is 16th in the country.
In eight appearances this year, Martinez has earned a 5-3-0 record in net, totaling 193 saves, a .919 save percentage, and one shutout. On the national level, Martinez's 2.14 goals against average ranks 21st across the NCAA.
A committee of voters — made up of a cross section of coaches, administrators, and media — will pare this list down within the next two weeks and then ultimately choose the winner who will be announced in March during the NCAA Frozen Four.
NEXT UP • HOME VS. NORTHEASTERN, SATURDAY, JAN. 17, 6 P.M.
The Wildcats continue conference action and conclude their season series with No. 7 Northeastern University (16-6-0, 12-1-0 HEA) at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex on Saturday, Jan. 17, when the Wildcats host the Huskies for a 6pm puck drop.
