McGovern placed first in the hammer throw at the Jim Boulanger Invitational

BOSTON – Junior Liam McGovern (North Kingstown, R.I.) of the University of New Hampshire men's track and field team has been named the America East Male Field Athlete of the Week. This is McGovern's first career America East weekly award.

McGovern placed first in the hammer throw with a toss of 209' 1" at the Jim Boulanger Invitational on April 5. His throw is currently second in America East and is 41st in the country.

Last season, McGovern competed in the NCAA East First Round in the hammer throw.

The Wildcats return to action on Wednesday and Thursday, April 9-10, at the UMass Multi-Event meet in Amherst, Mass.
