McGovern places 26th in the hammer throw

RESULTS

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Junior Liam McGovern (North Kingstown, R.I.) and junior Caden Zalenski (Milford, N.H.) of the University of New Hampshire men's track and field team each competed in the NCAA East First Round at Hodges Stadium at the University of North Florida on Wednesday.

Both athletes competed in the hammer throw as McGovern, who appeared in the NCAA First Round for the second straight year, placed 26th out of 48 athletes with a toss of 203' 3". Zalenski made his NCAAs debut as he was 41st with a throw of 195' 2". Tarik Robinson O'Hagan from Ole Miss won with a throw of 244' 5".

Junior Yoofi Abaka-Amuah (Worcester, Mass.) was set for the shot put at 6 PM but the event has been postponed due to a weather delay to 12:30 PM on Thursday, May 29.

The top 12 athletes from each event advance to the Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., on June 11-14.
