Yoofi Abaka-Amuah Sets School Record on Day 2 of Pre-Conference Invitational

Abaka-Amuah broke the shot put record
RESULTS
AMHERST, Mass. – Junior Yoofi Abaka-Amuah (Worcester, Mass.) set the school record in the shot put as the University of New Hampshire men's track and field team competed on Day 2 of the Pre-Conference Invitational at UMass to conclude the regular season.

Abaka-Amuah broke the school and facility record in the outdoor shot put with a throw of 61'9" to place first. The previous school record was set by Brice Paey in 2010 (59'4"). He also competed in the discus and was second with a throw of 163'4" which was the best of the collegiate throwers at the event.

The Wildcats took first and second in the hammer throw. Junior Liam McGovern (North Kingstown, R.I.) won with a throw of 199'4" and junior Caden Zalenski (Milford, N.H.) was second with a toss of 192'3".

Sophomore Gunnar Sokol (Berwick, Maine) recorded a second-place finish in the high jump at 6'2.75".

Freshman Alain Twite (Concord, N.H.) placed third in the triple jump in a personal record distance of 47'0.25".

Junior Kyran Maher (Andover, Mass.) was fourth in the pole vault with a leap of 14'8".

The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday and Sunday, May 3-4 for the America East Championships at the Reggie Atkins Track and Field Facility at Wildcat Stadium.
