Rossi wins her third weekly conference award of the season.
AMESBURY, Mass. — University of New Hampshire freshman forward Nina Rossi (Pittsgrove, N.J.) was named Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week on Monday (Dec. 8). The nomination marks Rossi's third award of the season, previously taking home top rookie honors on Nov. 10 alongside Hockey East Player of the Week on Oct. 6.
Rossi was pivotal piece on offense for the Wildcats last week, notching a team-leading five points across New Hampshire's three games, averaging 1.67 points per game. Rossi opened the scoring for the Wildcats in their 4-3 overtime win over No. 6 Northeastern on Tuesday (Dec. 2), netting a goal while shorthanded early in the second period to kickstart the Wildcats' comeback, before exploding for two assists and the game-tying goal against Maine with 14.9 seconds remaining in the third period on Friday (Dec. 5) for her fourth multi-point game and third three point game of the season. Rossi closed out the weekend with an assist against Maine on Saturday (Dec. 6), extending her point streak to four games, dating back to her assist against then-No. 11 Brown on Nov. 30.
With the award, Rossi becomes the seventh winner of a weekly award this season, previously winning on Nov. 10 and Oct. 6, and joining Noemi Martinez (Dec. 1), Addison Spitz (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) (Nov. 3), Josie Linn (Excelsior, Minn.) (Nov. 3), and Aurora Kahlert (Maple Ridge, British Columbia) (Oct. 13).
