Spitz, Linn Take Home Hockey East Weekly Awards

Addison Spitz logged five points while Josie Linn collected four in UNH’s sweep over Merrimack
AMESBURY, Mass. — University of New Hampshire sophomore forward Addison Spitz (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) and freshman forward Josie Linn (Excelsior, Minn.) each took home Hockey East weekly awards on Monday (Nov. 3). Spitz was named Hockey East Player of the Week while Linn earned Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week honors.
 
Spitz, a transfer from Colgate University, was a force for the Wildcats in their weekend sweep over Merrimack, logging her first career points with UNH through a two-goal outing in the team's 8-2 win over the Warriors on Friday (Oct. 31), before posting a career-high three point game with a goal and two assists in the Wildcats' 5-2 win over Merrimack on Saturday (Nov. 1). Spitz finished her weekend with a team-leading five points (3g, 2a) alongside a team-best +5 rating and .333 shooting percentage on nine tries.
 
Linn was instrumental in New Hampshire's successful weekend, earning her second goal of the season in the Wildcats' 8-2 win over Merrimack on Friday, before registering her first career multi-point game with a one goal, two assist showing against the Warriors in UNH's 5-2 win on Saturday. Linn closed out her weekend with four points (2g, 2a), second-most on the team while earning a team-high +5 rating, a .576 face-off win percentage (19-of-33), and a 1.000 shooting percentage, scoring on both tries on net.
 
With the awards, Spitz and Linn join freshman forward Nina Rossi (Pittsgrove, N.J.) and rookie defenseman Aurora Kahlert (Maple Ridge, British Columbia) as the third and fourth winners of weekly awards for the Wildcats this season. Rossi took home Hockey East Player of the Week on Oct. 6 while Kahlert was named Army ROTC Hockey East Defender of the Week on Oct. 13.
