Rossi takes home her second Hockey East weekly award this season
AMESBURY, Mass. — University of New Hampshire freshman forward Nina Rossi (Pittsgrove, N.J.) was named Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week on Monday (Nov. 10). The nomination marks Rossi's second award of the season, previously taking home Hockey East Player of the Week on Oct. 6.
Rossi was instrumental on offense for the Wildcats in their split with Providence College, earning a team-leading three points in UNH's 4-2 win on Friday (Nov. 7), matching a career-high in points and setting a new career-best in assists with three. In the Wildcats' matchup with the Friars on Saturday (Nov. 8), Rossi logged the lone assist on the New Hampshire score, bringing her weekend total to four points and setting a career-best for points in a weekend series. Following her four-point weekend, Rossi leads the Wildcats in points (12) and is tied for the fourth-most across Hockey East.
With the award, Rossi becomes the fifth winner of a weekly award this season and the first Wildcat to take home multiple weekly league honors. Preceding Rossi, Addison Spitz (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) and Josie Linn (Excelsior, Minn.) each took home awards on Nov. 3, winning HEA Player of the Week and Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week, respectively, while Aurora Kahlert (Maple Ridge, British Columbia) took home Army ROTC HEA Defender of the Week on Oct. 13.
