Martelleur Wins Slalom to Lead UNH on Day One of SLU Carnival

WILMINGTON, N.Y. – Junior Hedda Martelleur (Uppsala, Sweden) captured first place in the slalom to lead the University of New Hampshire ski team on the opening day of the St. Lawrence Carnival at Whiteface Mountain.
UNH sits in second place after day one with 209.5 points, trailing Dartmouth, which leads the 13-team field with 234.5 points.
Martelleur clocked in at 2:14.02 to earn 50 points for her victory. Junior Tilde Kandell (Leksand, Sweden) contributed 31 points with a ninth-place finish (2:17.08), while senior Gaia Palamara (Verona, Italy) added 26.5 points for 13th place (2:17.28). Senior Zoe Michael (Sydney, Australia) gave UNH another top-20 performance, finishing 19th in 2:17.65. Graduate student Bella Amico (Bronxville, N.Y.) rounded out the pack with a 21st-place finish (2:18.02).
On the men's side, Isac Hedstrom (Are, Sweden) led the Wildcats with a fourth-place finish in 2:10.47, earning 41 points. Freshman Hunter Roach (Vail, Colo.) placed eighth with a time of 2:11.30, collecting 33 points. Graduate student Robert Underhill (Newbury, N.H.) secured 13th place in 2:11.89, adding 28 points.
Graduate student Hayden Dahl (Plymouth, N.H.) finished 16th in 2:12.60, while freshman Jayden Buckrell (Collingwood, Ontario, Canada) placed 17th (2:12.67), and junior Zachary Temertzoglou (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) took 19th (2:12.96), giving UNH three more top-20 finishers.
