Men’s Soccer Ranked #9 in National Preseason Poll

Wildcats open the season at BU on Aug. 22
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team is ranked No. 9 in the United Soccer Coaches National Preseason Poll. This is the fifth time out of the last six seasons the Wildcats have been ranked in the first poll.
VIEW NATIONAL PRESEASON POLL
The Wildcats, who have made seven straight NCAA Tournament appearances, will play three teams during the regular season that are ranked in the preseason poll as UNH will take on No. 12 Western Michigan (Aug. 25), No. 17 Hofstra (Sept. 17) and No. 14 Vermont (Sept. 28). Only four teams have made the NCAA Tournament seven straight seasons from 2017-23 (UNH, Indiana, Wake Forest, Georgetown).
Also, the Wildcats tied for second with 40 points and one first-place vote in the America East Preseason Poll, conducted by the conference's eight head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own teams. Vermont was picked first with 47 points and five first-place votes, while Bryant tied for second with 40 points and two first-place votes. UMBC was fourth (32 points), followed by NJIT (23 points), UAlbany (20 points), Binghamton (13 points) and UMass Lowell (nine points).

The Wildcats concluded the 2023 season with a 13-3-4 record and advanced to the Round of 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the third time in program history. UNH was the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament which was the highest seed in program history. The Wildcats defeated defending national champions Syracuse, 3-0, in the second round and then fell to No. 9 seed and eventual national champions Clemson, 1-0, in the first-ever Round of 16 game played at Wildcat Stadium.
The Wildcats will kick off the 2024 season under first-year Wildcat head coach Rich Weinrebe at Boston University on Thursday, Aug. 22, followed by the home opener at Wildcat Stadium versus No. 12 Western Michigan on Sunday, Aug. 25 at 6 p.m.
