AMESBURY, Mass. – Grad student Rae Breton (Brighton, Ontario) of the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team was named the Army ROTC Defender of the Week by Hockey East on Monday.
This is the fourth time Breton has received this accolade in the 2023-24 season; she was previously honored consecutive weeks (Oct. 9 & 16) as well as Nov. 27. She was also named the Army ROTC Defender of the Month for September/October.
Breton blocked seven shots and had a +1 rating in UNH's home-and-home split against Merrimack College on Feb. 9-10. She was credited with six blocks and had a +1 rating in the overtime home loss on Feb. 10; it marked the 21st game this season Breton blocked multiple shots in a game and the third time she recorded six or more blocks.
Breton also blocked a shot in the 3-2 road win Feb. 9.
Breton leads Hockey East and is tied for #3 in the nation with 74 blocks this season.
The UNH women's hockey team, currently fourth in the Hockey East standings with four games remaining, returns to action Feb. 15 (7 p.m.) at College of the Holy Cross.
