Blair Makes 36 Saves in 4-1 Loss to Northeastern

DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore goaltender Sedona Blair (Prairie View, Minn.) recorded 36 saves but the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team was defeated 4-1 by Northeastern University at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex on Friday night.
Blair, the reigning Stop it Goaltending Goaltender of the Week in Hockey East, made double-digit saves all three periods with 11 in the first, followed by 13 and 12. Sophomore defenseman Sadie Makokis (St. Albert, Alberta) gave UNH a 1-0 lead at 3:51 of the second period.
NU goalie Paige Taborski was credited with 14 saves and the offense was led by Skyler Irving and Jules Constantinople, both of whom tallied a goal and an assist.
UNH moves to 4-4-1 overall and 1-4-0 in Hockey East while Northeastern is 5-4-1, 3-2-1.

FIRST PERIOD- Northeastern recorded an 11-5 shot advantage through 20 scoreless minutes.
- With 1:13 on the clock, Maddie Crowley-Cahill (Haverhill, Mass.) blasted a low shot from the right point that eluded Taborski but caromed off the left post to keep the score tied 0-0.
SECOND PERIOD- Makokis gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead at 3:51 when she snapped a shot from the top of the left circle past Taborski's glove and inside the far post. Chavonne Truter (Uxbridge, Ontario) cycled the puck to Marina Alvarez (Center Moriches, N.Y.) at the right point and she sent a pass across the high slot to Makokis to set up the goal.
THIRD PERIOD- Constantinople leveled the score at 4:32 and Irving gave the Huskies a 2-1 lead at 7:04.
- Brazis extended the advantage to 3-1 at 10:31 and Ella Blackmore's redirection in the low slot pushed the lead to 4-1 at 12:55.
UNH NOTEBOOK- Blair's 36 saves matched her season high established Oct. 12 at nationally-ranked UConn.
- Truter extended her point streak to three games; she has four points (two goals, two assists) during the streak.
- Makokis has recorded a point in back-to-back games.
- Shea Verrier (Reading, Mass.) was the top 'Cat in the faceoff circle with 14 wins.
- Callista Printz (Buffalo, N.Y.) had a team-high three blocks.
- Alvarez, Makokis and Andi Calderone (Kirkland, Quebec) each had two blocks.
GAME NOTEBOOK- Northeastern recorded a 40-15 shot advantage.
- UNH went 0-for-2 on the power play and the Huskies were scoreless on three power play opportunities.
- The Wildcats had a 36-35 edge in the faceoff circle.
