Cabral, Hammer Both Score to Lift UNH to 2-1 Win vs. Union

DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore goalie Sedona Blair (Prairie View, Minn.) recorded 15 saves as the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team defeated Union College, 2-1, at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex on Friday night.
Sophomore Julia Cabral (Lee, N.H.) and senior Brooke Hammer (Commerce Township, Michigan) scored the Wildcats' goals.
Union goalie Monja Wagner was credited with 27 saves and Emma Fulawka scored the Garnet Chargers' goal.
UNH moves to 2-2-1 overall while Union is 2-5-0.

FIRST PERIOD
- Cabral scored UNH's first goal at 9:17 to give the Wildcats an early 1-0 lead on a shot between the goalie's legs from close range on the left side.
- UNH recorded a 9-7 shot advantage in the opening 20 minutes.
SECOND PERIOD
- Hammer gave UNH the 2-0 lead at 19:02 with a shot to right side of net. A shot by Sadie Makokis (St. Albert, Alberta) from the left point was redirected by Kelly Harty (Billerica, Mass.) to Hammer at the right doorstep for the game-winning goal.
- UNH went 1-for-1 on penalty kill and 0-for-1 on power play during the second period.
- UNH recorded a 14-3 shot advantage in the stanza.
THIRD PERIOD
- UNH and Union both had six shots in the final frame.
- Fulawka one-timed a shot from the slot inside the right post to pull the Garnet Chargers within 2-1 at 4:17.
- Following a UNH timeout at 18:43, Union pulled Wagner to create a skater advantage, but the 'Cats prevented any shots on goal to preserve the lead.
