Guarente, Rainey Earn America East Weekly Awards

BOSTON – Junior forward Meghan Guarente (Sewell, N.J.) and redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Sally Rainey (Lebanon, N.H.) each earned conference awards this week. Guarente was named America East Offensive Player of the Week and Rainey was named Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
Guarente tallied both a goal and an assist in the Wildcats' lone game last week; a 2-0 win over Manhattan. The goal was her second of the season and fourth game-winning goal of her career. Her four game-winning goals ties senior back Ella Dudley (St. Augustine, Fla.) for most on the team.
Rainey faced four shots in the win against Manhattan and stopped all of them. This is Rainey's second clean sheet of the season and her career. She allowed no goals in the season opener against Stonehill, helping the team to a 1-0 win.
UNH is back in action when they travel to take on Siena on Thursday, Aug. 31 with a 4:00 p.m. kickoff. This is followed by a trip to UConn on Sunday, Sept. 3 at 7:00 p.m. The Wildcats return to Durham to play Merrimack on Thursday, Sept. 6 at 6:00 p.m.
