Abbi Maier scores her first goal of the season
WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior midfielder Abbi Maier (Cincinnati, Ohio) scored her first goal of the season for the Wildcats but the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team fell to Holy Cross, 3-1, on Thursday night at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium.
The 'Cats falls to 0-2-1, while the Crusaders improve to 1-3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Crusaders took an early 1-0 lead in the fourth minute (3:36) when Olivia Perez volleyed the ball out of the air to the back of the net from four yards out.
- The Wildcats tied the contest at 1-1 in the eighth minute (7:22) on a penalty kick goal by Maier as she fired the ball to the middle of the net.

- Abigail Cushing broke the tie when she blasted a shot from 25 yards out to the upper right corner of the goal in the 24th minute (23:49).
- Then in the 39th minute (38:02), Karenna Beckstein increased the lead to 3-1 with a penalty kick goal to the right side of the net.
- Graduate student Shya Walker (Philadelphia, Pa.) sent a shot from 15 yards out in the 69th minute that was going to the upper part of the net but Aubrey Haesche made a diving save.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- HC outshot UNH, 11-6, while the Crusaders had five shots on goal and the Wildcats recorded four.
- The Wildcats attempted five corner kicks and the Crusaders took four.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Cohen (Glastonbury, Conn.) made one save during the first 45 minutes and junior Sonja Zeepvat (Mendham, N.J.) also recorded one save in the second half for the 'Cats. Haesche posted three saves for the Crusaders.
