Women's Hockey Honors Players at Annual Team Banquet

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's hockey program held its annual team banquet in late April at the Service Credit Union Victory Club to recognize the accomplishments of the team and individuals in the 2022-23 season.
Senior goalie Nicky Harnett (Plymouth, Minn.) won the Dr. Allison Edgar Academic Award for the third consecutive year. To earn this award, Harnett has maintained a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade-point average to record the highest GPA on the team.
Also of note, Kira Juodikis (LaSalle, Ontario) was a repeat selection as the Karyn L. Bye Most Valuable Player and Annie Berry (Milton, Mass.) received the Blue Line Club Award for the second consecutive year.

Juodikis had her named called to receive both the Karyn L. Bye MVP Award and the Sue Merz 7th Player Award, which recognizes a player who performs above and beyond expectations. The 5-foot-11 sophomore forward led UNH in goals (17), shots (110) and shooting percentage (.155), and she tied for the lead in game-winning goals (three). She also ranked second in points (28) and tied for third in assists (11).
On the Hockey East leaderboard, Juodikis ranked ninth in goals and 12th in points. In league-only games, she was No. 8 in goals (14) and No. 11 in points (22).
Joudikis' season highlights included a four-goal game at College of the Holy Cross in which she scored all three of the game's goals scored in the third period; the four goals and four points both marked career highs.
She tallied a point in 16 of 36 games with seven multiple-point efforts and that included a two-goal, one-assist performance three times: at Boston University (Oct. 15); vs. Saint Anselm College (Jan. 2; and vs. the University of Maine (Jan. 13). She scored the game-winning overtime goal in that Oct. 15 game against BU.
Juodkis was named a Hockey East Third Team All-Star and honored as Player of the Week twice during the season (Oct. 17 and Feb. 6). She was also named runner-up for Player of the Month in January.

Brianna Brooks (Whitby, Ontario) was named co-recipient of the Karyn L. Bye Most Valuable Player award. The junior forward skated in all 36 games and ended the season with 27 points, which ranked third on the team, and a team-high six power-play goals. Brooks ranked second in goals (10), assists (17) and shots (101).
Brooks tallied a point in 19 of 36 games with six multiple-point games, including four with multiple assists. Her season highlights included her first career hat trick as part of a career-high four-point performance against 15th-ranked Boston College (Jan. 20). She had a season-long five-game point streak Jan. 7-27 in which she recorded nine points.
Brooks also excelled in the faceoff circle, where she led the Wildcats in faceoff wins (344), total faceoffs (587) and faceoff winning percentage (.586). Her faceoff win percentage ranked third among the 39 league players with 190+ faceoffs, and she ranked fourth in Hockey East with the 344 faceoff wins.
Brooks recorded 10+ faceoff wins 14 times with a high of 22 against Boston U. (Jan. 21). Her season accolades included Hockey East co-Player of the Week on Jan. 23.

Emily Rickwood (Brantford, Ontario) was awarded the Colleen Coyne Best Defensive Player Award for, among other things, her ability to block shots. The grad student blocked a team-high 63 shots and that number ranked second in Hockey East as well as 12th in the nation.
Rickwood blocked a shot attempt in 27 of 36 games with multiple blocks 20 times, including a stretch of four consecutive games from Nov. 11-19. She recorded a season-high six blocks the opener vs. Union College. She was credited with four at Merrimack College (Feb. 11), as well as vs. St. Cloud State (Jan. 6) and Nov. 4 vs. Northeastern University; Rickwood finished with three blocks seven times.
Offensively, Rickwood tied for second among UNH blueliners in both goals (four) and assists (six), as well as third in points (10).

Brooke Hammer (Commerce Township, Mich.) earned the Tricia Dunn Most Improved Player Award. Playing in 18 games, the sophomore forward recorded two points from one goal and one assist. She scored her goal on five shots for a .200 shooting percentage.

Kelly Harty (Billerica, Mass.) went home with the Rookie of the Year Award as a freshman forward playing in 22 of the 36 games. Harty ended the season with four points from her first Wildcat goal and three assists. Her first goal contributed to the 4-0 win against nationally-ranked UConn on Dec. 2. Harty recorded her first career point with an assist in her first collegiate game. She had a personal high of four shots against Maine on Oct. 8.

Berry, a senior forward and first-year captain, received the Blue Line Club Award, which is given to a player who embodies what it means to be a Wildcat by exhibiting a positive culture in the locker room, on the ice, in youth clinics and in the community. She also received the Hockey East Sportsmanship Award for the 2022-2023 season.
Berry played in 34 games and recorded three goals and six assists for nine points. Her other stats included one power-play goal and a game-winning goal. Berry won 88 of 157 faceoffs (56.1%) with a high of 12 faceoff wins in the season opener vs. Union; she also tallied an assist that game. Berry's other highlights included a high of two points with a goal and an assist at Merrimack (Nov. 12).

Harnett was once again named the recipient of the Dr. Allison Edgar Academic Award for continuing their perfect 4.0 GPA. On the ice, they played in 20 games with 17 starts in goal for the Wildcats. Harnett recorded the team's highest save percentage of .910 with 396 saves. They also led UNH with a 2.33 GAA and three shutouts.
Harnett's season highlights included a 28-save against nationally-ranked UConn (Dec. 2) and a 22-save shutout at UConn, as well as 22 saves in an overtime win at Boston U. Their third shutout was a 13-save performance against Holy Cross.
Harnett was the Hockey East Stop It Goaltending Goaltender of the Week three times in the 2022-23 season.

In addition to Harnett and Rickwood, grad students Ava Boutilier (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island), Gabby Jones (Westfield, Mass.), Emily Pinto (Mulmur, Ontario), and Lauren Martin (Cambridge, Ontario) were honored as the Class of 2023.
