Blair Stops 19 Shots in 1-0 Loss to Providence

DURHAM, N.H. – Freshman goaltender Sedona Blair (Eden Prairie, Minn.) made 19 saves in the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team's 1-0 loss to Providence College at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex on Saturday night.
She made more than half of the saves in the second period with 10 in that stanza. PC counterpart Hope Walinski was credited with 15 saves to record the shutout. Maddy Coene scored what proved to be the only goal of the game at 9:56 of the first period.
UNH moves to 5-6-1 overall and 3-4-1 in Hockey East. PC is now 2-7-0, 2-3-0.

FIRST PERIOD
- Coene gave the Friars a 1-0 lead at 9:56. Cristina Cavaliere initiated the scoring sequence from the left point with a pass to the high slot for Grace Shirley. Her shot hit Coene in the low slot and trickled to the left side, where Coene reached out to deposit the puck into the open net.
SECOND PERIOD
- The visitors recorded a 10-6 shot advantage in the scoreless second stanza.
THIRD PERIOD
- With a delayed penalty to be assessed to UNH, Walinski went to the PC bench for an extra attacked at 6:27. She remained there for 69 seconds, but neither of the Friars' shot attempts in that span were on target.
- Blair made one save on the ensuing Providence power play to keep the 'Cats within one goal.
- UNH went on its third power play of the game at 15:52. A wrister by Kira Juodikis (LaSalle, Ontario) from the slot was blocked down by Walinski, who also denied Jada Christian (Caledon East, Ontario) on the rebound at the top of the crease.
- The Wildcats were whistled for tripping at 18:00 and pulled Blair for an extra skater to make it 5-on-5 at 18:46.
- Walinski once again turned aside a shot off Juodikis' stick at 19:00 and neither team attempted a shot the rest of the game.

- Providence recorded a 20-15 shot advantage.
- New Hampshire finished with a 28-20 edge in the faceoff circle.
- UNH was credited with 17 blocked shots in comparison to PC's four.
