Women's Hockey Announces Seven Incoming Wildcats

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's hockey program, led by eighth-year head coach Hilary Witt, has announced seven newcomers – five freshmen and two transfers – will join the team for the 2022-23 season.
"I am excited for the 2022-2023 season," Witt said. "We have added a mix of incoming freshmen and transfer students, which combined with our returners will greatly improve our skill and depth that is needed to compete in Hockey East and nationally."

Harty is a 2022 graduate of The Governor's Academy, where she was a three-year letterwinner and 100 point scorer on the girls ice hockey team. As a senior captain, the 5-foot-4 forward recorded 50 points – 26 goals and 24 assists – in 25 games to garner All-ISL First Team, NEPSAC First Team and team MVP honors. She was presented the team's Peter Marshall French Sportsmanship Award, which is presented to a student at any level whose perseverance, sportsmanship and generous spirit on the playing field represents the highest standards of committed participation and fair play.
As a sophomore, she earned ISL Honorable Mention after recording 46 points (23 goals, 23 assists) in 24 games. Harty was limited to nine games as a junior, when she tallied five goals and five assists for 10 points.
Harty was also named volleyball team MVP as a senior and she competed on the lacrosse team at Governors.

Hills is a 2022 graduate of Pembroke Academy who played for the North American Hockey Academy Winter Hawks. The 5-9 goalie backstopped NAHA to the Massachusetts state title as a senior with a .944 save percentage and eight shutouts in 30 games. As a junior, Hills had a 0.90 goals-against average, .959 save percentage and 10 shutouts in 20 games. She finished with a .940 save percentage and nine shutouts in 38 games as a sophomore.
Hills also played club with the Boston Shamrocks and North Shore Vipers; she led the Vipers to their first state title in 2016-17.

Hush is a 2022 graduate of Notre Dame High School who also played for the Durham West Jr. club team. The 5-5 forward is a two-time Honor Roll student who ranked second in points for the OWHA U22 League this past year.

Jones skated in all 120 games as a four-year letterwinner at Merrimack College; the 5-4 forward compiled 13 goals and 20 assists for 33 points spanning the 2019-22 seasons. She was named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team all four years, graduated with a bachelor's degree in Health Sciences, and is pursuing a graduate degree in public health at UNH. Jones also played on the MC softball team for three years.
Last year as a senior captain, Jones finished with three goals and seven assists for 10 points, and that included a three-point effort in the team's first-ever Hockey East playoff win; she tied for third on the team in assists. Jones recorded her highest point total as a freshman, when she tallied six goals and eight assists for 14 points.
Prior to Merrimack, Jones attended Williston Northampton School. She was recipient of the Top Female Athlete Award and named to the league All-Star Team as a senior. Jones also attended a National Camp for three years.

Mish was a three-year letterwinner at Canterbury School and played for the Boston Jr. Eagles club team, with whom she was a 19U Tier 1 USA Hockey national quarterfinalist in 2021-22. Mish earned the Canterbury team MVP award as a junior, when she tallied 11 goals and 19 assists for 30 points in 22 games.
She was also a three-year starting pitcher on the Canterbury softball team and also ran cross country.

Pinto was a four-year letterwinner at Mercyhurst University who recorded 20 goals and 38 assists for 58 points in 123 career games spanning the 2019-22 seasons. Last year in playing all 35 games, the 5-3 forward finished with 15 points (4 goals, 11 assists) and a +8 plus/minus rating. In a shortened 2020-21 season, Pinto skated in all 18 games, ranked second on the team in goals (six) and had a +7 rating. She had a personal-best 23 points (7 goals, 16 assists) as well as a +5 rating in 36 games as a sophomore.

Rodgers completed a postgraduate year at Shattuck St. Mary's in which she recorded 12 goals and 17 assists to lead the team to a third consecutive state championship and a third place finish at nationals. As a 5-5 senior forward in the 2020-21 season, Rodgers tallied 18 points on 11 goals and seven assists after being sidelined by injury the previous year. In her freshman and sophomore seasons, Rodgers led the U16 team to back-to-back state titles with 18 points as a freshman (8 goals, 10 assists) and 21 points (11g, 10a) as a sophomore.

New Hampshire opens the 2022-23 season home against Union College on Sept. 23 (6 p.m.) at the Whittemore Center. The teams face off again Sept. 24 at the Whitt to complete the two-game series.
