Team Awards Handed Out at Annual Banquet

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's hockey program held its annual team banquet May 7 at the Service Credit Union Victory Club to recognize the accomplishments of the team and individuals in the 2021-22 season.
Junior forward Annie Berry (Milton, Mass.) and freshman forward Kira Juodikis (LaSalle, Ontario) both received three awards and junior goaltender Nicky Harnett (Plymouth, Minn.) was also a multiple-award recipient.

Juodikis had her named called to receive the Karyn L. Bye MVP Award, Rookie of the Year Award and Dr. Allison Edgar Academic Award. The 5-foot-11 forward led UNH in both goals (12) and shooting percentage, and tied for the lead in both points (20) and game-winning goals. She also ranked fourth in both assists and shots.
Juodikis recorded a point in 15 of 28 games with four multiple-point efforts, including two goals in her career debut against Boston University at the Whittemore Center; the previous time a 'Cat scored two goas in a season opener was October 2016, and the last time a UNH freshman scored twice in a season opener was in October 2001. Also of note, her goal 22 seconds into that game was the fastest goal to start a season since October 2005 and the quickest UNH goal to start any game since February 2017.
Joudikis' other highlights included personal bests of two assists and three points vs. Holy Cross on Halloween and a five-game point streak spanning Oct. 9-31.
Juodikis was named to the 2021-22 Pro Ambitions All-Rookie Team by Hockey East. She was the league Rookie of the Month for September/October 2021 and a three-time Rookie of the Week honoree. Juodikis was the first Wildcat to win back-to-back Hockey East Rookie of the Week awards since the 2007-08 season.
Berry received the Blue Line Club Award, which is given to a player who embodies what it means to be a Wildcat by exhibiting a positive culture in the locker room, on the ice, in youth clinics and in the community. She was also a co-recipient of both the Dr. Allison Edgar Academic Award and Sue Merz 7th Player Award, which recognizes a player who performs above and beyond expectations.
Berry played in 32 games last season and recorded three goals and four assists for seven points. She scored one the Wildcats' two shorthanded goals with her tally at Providence College on Oct. 8. The Milton native was first among forwards in blocked shots with 40. Berry ranked second on the team in faceoff wins (189) and faceoff winning percentage (.522), as well as total faceoffs (362).
Harnett received the Tricia Dunn Most Improved Player Award and shared the Dr. Allison Edgar Academic Award. She played in 13 games with 12 starts between the pipes for the Wildcats. Harnett stopped 314 of 344 shots in 713 minutes, 26 seconds for a 2.52 GAA and .913 save percentage – both of which were best on the team. In a two-game series against Providence College (Jan. 7-8), she stopped 59 of 60 shots for a 0.50 GAA and .983 save percentage, and was honored as Hockey East Goaltender of the Week.
Senior goalie Ava Boutilier (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) and senior Lauren Martin (Cambridge, Ontario) shared the Dr. Allison Edgar Academic Award with Juodikis, Berry and Harnett.
Boutilier started in 22 games last season, her first as a captain, and posted a 2.65 GAA with a .911 save percentage. She became the Wildcats' career saves leader on Feb. 15 and her benchmark currently stands at 2,907; on the UNH all-time leaderboard, Boutilier ranks third in save percentage (.925) and fourth in minutes (6299:18).
Martin skated in all 34 of the team's games last season, her first as a captain. The senior posted four goals and six assists for 10 points and notched her 50th career point Jan. 2 at Dartmouth College. Martin also shared the team lead with two game-winning goals. She ranked third in faceoff wins (176), faceoff winning percentage (.503) and total faceoffs (350).
Senior defenseman Maddie Truax (Gardner, Mass.) was named recipient of the Colleen Coyne Best Defensive Player Award for the second consecutive season. Truax led both UNH and Hockey East with 79 blocked shots – a total that ranked No. 7 in the nation. She was also the top Wildcat in plus/minus and was an integral part of the penalty kill unit.
Truax recorded at least one blocked shot in 32 of 34 games and blocked multiple shots in 22 games. That included a high of eight against nationally-ranked Northeastern University as well as three games with five blocks and two others with four blocked shots.
The captain also contributed to the offense with four goals and five assists for a total of nine points. Amongst UNH blueliners, Truax tied for the lead in goals and was second in points.
Senior forward Lindsey Dumond (Hampton, N.H.) was co-recipient of the Sue Merz 7th Player Award. Dumond tallied a goal and three assists for a total of four points in 33 games. She became the first UNH skater to win the Hockey East Best Defensive Forward Award in 2020-21 and continued to be a strong two-way player this season.
In addition to Dumond and Truax, Paige Rynne (Ancaster, Ontario) was recognized as the outgoing Class of 2022.
