Schulz Leads Wildcats to Fourth at UVM Carnival

Eighth-place finish in 10K classic makes it back-to-back Top-10s for junior Nordic skier
CRAFTSBURY, Vt. – Junior Scott Schulz (Lake Placid, N.Y.) registered a team-leading eighth-place finish in the men's 10K classic Saturday at Craftsbury Outdoor Center, and sophomore Jasmine Lyons (Ottawa, Ontario) recorded a 12th-place finish in the women's 10K classic to lead the UNH ski team to fourth place at the UVM Carnival.
Host Vermont won the carnival with 518 points, followed by Dartmouth (436), Middlebury (336), UNH (314) and Bowdoin (300) to round out the Top-5. For the second straight day, alpine action scheduled for Stowe Mountain was cancelled due to trail conditions.

Schulz made it back-to-back Top-10s at Craftsbury in a time of 28 minutes, 59.7 seconds for 35 points. Sophomore Seth Wyatt (Bozeman, Mont.) posted a 23rd-place finish of 29:59.8 for 21 points, and freshman Roger Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.) finished 30th (30:13.5, 17 points).
On the women's side, Lyons recorded 29 points in a time of 33:32.4, freshman Lisa Nystedt (Stockholm, Sweden) earned 22 points by finishing 27th (34:45.9) and junior Luci Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.) picked up five points courtesy of her 29th-place finish (34:58.0).

•The Dartmouth Carnival is slated for Feb. 11-12 with Nordic racing at Oak Hill in Hanover, N.H., and alpine action at Dartmouth Skiway in Lyme, N.H.
