Lyons Leads 'Cats to Third Place Halfway through Dartmouth Carnival

UNH ties for second in women's Nordic race at Oak Hill Touring Center
HANOVER & LYME, N.H. – Sophomore Jasmine Lyons (Ottawa, Ontario) placed third and sophomore Georgianna Fischer (Bozeman, Mont.) took sixth to propel the UNH women's Nordic ski team to a second-place tie in the 5K classic at Oak Hill Touring Center, and the Wildcats are in third place overall halfway through the Dartmouth Carnival.
Lyons earned 44 of the team's 113 points by finishing in 16 minutes, 45.0 seconds. Fischer clocked in at 17:19.8 (39 points), and junior Luci Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.) placed 12th (17:37.6, 30 points).
Dartmouth leads the carnival with 247 points, followed by Vermont (203), UNH (202), Middlebury (178) and Bowdoin (151) to round out the Top-5.
Junior Scott Schulz (Lake Placid, N.Y.) was the top men's Nordic Wildcat in the 10K classic courtesy of a third-place finish (28:52.9, 44 points). Freshman Roger Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.) finished in 19th place (30:08.9, 25 points), and sophomore Seth Wyatt (Bozeman, Mont.) tallied 20 points by virtue of a 27th-place finish.
At Dartmouth Skiway, no points were awarded for the men's and women's slalom races that were makeups from the UVM Carnival cancellation last weekend. Two more slalom races are on the docket Saturday that will count for EISA points.
Senior Crowley Gentile (Greenland, N.H.) took fifth place in the men's SL with a time of 1 minute, 42.52 seconds. Junior Marius Solbakken (Bekkestua, Norway) recorded a 10th-place time of 1:43.25, and graduate student Corey McConville (London, Ontario) finished in 13th place (1:43.29).
Senior Fanny Sanderberg (Oslo, Norway) was the top UNH finisher in women's SL by taking 12th place in 1:36.93. Freshman Zoe Michael (Oslo, Norway) placed 14th in 1:37.16, and junior McKenna Wilson (Bristol, N.H.) crossed the line in 1:40.23 for 28th place.

•As aforementioned, the men's and women's SL races Saturday will count for points. The Nordic races will be the men's 10K freestyle and women's 10K freestyle.
