Blondeau Tchoukuiegno recorded 11 points, nine rebounds and six assists in the loss
DURHAM, N.H. -- The University of New Hampshire men's basketball team was defeated by Vermont, 71-50 in America East play on Wednesday evening at Lundholm Gymnasium.
The Wildcats fall to 12-11 overall (7-7 AE), while the Catamounts improve to 21-5 overall (13-1 AE).
Senior forward Jayden Martinez (Cibolo, Texas) led the Wildcats offensively with 13 points, while sophomore guard Blondeau Tchoukuiegno (Montreal, Quebec) added 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting with nine rebounds and six assists in a solid all-around game. Sophomore Nick Johnson (Bronx, N.Y.) and senior Nick Guadarrama (Newington, Conn.) each added 10 points apiece in the losing effort for the Wildcats.
Vermont was led by Ben Shungu with a game-high 24 points (9-13 FG), while Justin Mazzulla (7-10 FG) totaled 21 points in the win for the Catamounts.
The Wildcats trailed UVM, 42-25 at halftime.
UNH returns to action on Saturday, February 19 at UAlbany. Game time from SEFCU Arena is 4 p.m. on ESPN3.
