
UNH Defeated by #7 Northeastern, 8-2

BOSTON – Kira Juodikis (LaSalle, Ontario) and Gabby Jones (Westfield, Mass.) scored third-period goals to lift the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team within 4-2, but Northeastern University went on to an 8-2 victory Saturday afternoon at Matthews Arena.
Nicky Harnett (Plymouth, Minn.) made 28 saves and was credited with an assist on Juodikis' tally.
NU goalie Gwyneth Philips also stopped 28 shots. NU's offense was led by Maureen Murphy (three goals, one assist) and Chloe Aurard (two goals, two assists).
New Hampshire moves to 4-9-0 overall and 3-7-0 in Hockey East, while Northeastern improves to 10-1-1, 8-1-1.

FIRST PERIOD
- Northeastern recorded a 12-9 shot advantage in the opening 20 minutes.
- Aurard tipped in Alina Mueller's shot from the high slot to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead at 14:44. Katy Knoll earned the secondary assist on the power-play goal.
- In the 17th minute, Brianna Brooks (Whitby, Ontario) made a lead pass to herself into the neutral zone to create a 2-on-1 break, but her shot from the right faceoff dot was stopped by Philips.
- UNH went on its first power play of the game moments later, and midway through that skater advantage Shea Verrier (Reading, Mass.) ripped a shot from the right circle that
SECOND PERIOD
- Northeastern was opportunistic in the second period by scoring three goals on an 11-9 shot advantage to build a 4-0 lead.
- Murphy netted goals at 4:08 and 6:13, then Mia Langlois struck at 11:05.
THIRD PERIOD
- The Huskies outscored UNH 4-2 in the final frame with a 13-12 shot advantage.
- Juodikis corralled Harnett's long outlet pass in the neutral zone and advanced down the slot. She shifted to her right, but then pulled the puck back to the slot round Philips and tucked a backhander into the open net to lift the Wildcats within 4-1 at 3:44.
- UNH went on a 5-minute power play at 4:35 and Jones ripped a shot from the left circle into the net to trim the deficit to 4-2 at 6:15. Nicole Kelly (Brantford, Ontario) initiated the scoring sequence with a pass from behind the net to Jones in the left circle. She moved the puck to the high slot and Marina Alvarez (Center Moriches, N.Y.) sent a return pass back to Jones for the goal.
- Aurard scored a shorthanded goal at 9:24 and then Peyton Anderson netted a power-play goal at 10:49 to quickly reestablish a four-goal lead of 6-2.
- Goals by Sklyar Irving (at 15:06) and Murphy (18:17) closed the scoring.
GAME NOTEBOOK
- Northeastern finished with a 36-30 shot advantage and blocked eight shots in comparison to seven for the Wildcats.
- Faceoffs were even at 25.
- NU scored on 3 of 4 power plays and also had a shorthanded goal; UNH was 1-for-3 on the power play.
