UNH Men’s Hockey Falls to #4 Boston College, 2-1

Crookshank nets lone goal
CHESNUT HILL, Mass. – Sophomore Angus Crookshank (North Vancouver, British Columbia) recorded the lone goal as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to the No. 4 Boston College Eagles, 2-1, at the Conte Forum on Friday night.
The Wildcats are now 15-15-3 (9-12-2 HEA) on the season, and the Eagles are 24-8-1 (17-6-0 HEA). With one game to play, UNH is currently in ninth place in the Hockey East standings with 20 points, while Northeastern is in eighth place with 21 points. The top eight teams qualify for the Hockey East Tournament. With a UNH win and a Northeastern loss the Wildcats will qualify, while with a UNH tie and a Northeastern loss the Huskies will win the tiebreaker. With a UNH win and a Northeastern tie the Wildcats will win the tiebreaker.

The Wildcats will conclude the regular season versus Boston College on Saturday, March 7, for Senior Night at the Whittemore Center at 7 p.m. The first 1,000 fans will be given the final set of trading cards on Saturday. HOW IT HAPPENED
- At 59 seconds of the first period, BC took an early lead with a goal from Mike Hardman. Alex Newhook dished a pass from the left face-off circle to Hardman in the slot who fired it upper glove-side.
- Boston College extended its lead to 2-0 at 5:14 of the first period, when Marshall Warren ripped a one-timer from the bottom of the left face-off circle that snuck past junior Mike Robinson (Bedford, N.H.)
- Sophomore Will MacKinnon (Plymouth, Mich.) gave UNH their closest opportunity of the period when he blasted a shot from the blue line that rattled off the post above Spencer Knight's stick-side shoulder.
- In the first period, UNH went 0-2 and BC went 0-1 on the power play. BC and UNH both had nine shots.
- Robinson kept the Wildcats in the game when he was able to make a diving save on a breakaway chance at 7:50 of the second period.
- In the second period, UNH went 0-1, and BC went 0-3 on the power play. BC outshot UNH by a margin of 7-4.
- At 4:02 of the third period, senior captain Anthony Wyse (Newton, Mass.) skated from UNH's defensive blue line down to the slot and got a shot off, but it was turned away by Knight. Crookshank was able to collect the rebound to the left of the net and bury it top glove side. Junior Max Gildon (Plano, Texas) was also credited with an assist on the play.
- At 18:47, the Wildcats pulled Robinson in favor of an extra attacker, but were unable to capitalize on the advantage, making the final score 2-1 for Boston College.

- UNH outshot BC by a 24-23 margin.
