WAKEFIELD, Mass. - University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey forward Tamara Thiérus (Saint-Jérôme, Quebec) has been named to the 2019-20 Hockey East Pro Ambitions All-Rookie Team, the conference announced Wednesday morning.
Thiérus, who played in all 36 of the team's games this season, tallied a total of 20 points in her rookie campaign. She finished fourth on the team in points, as well as second in assists, with 14. Her highest scoring performance came on February 7th when she scored a career-high 2 goals as well as an assist to lead the Wildcats to a 3-0 victory over Boston College. Her two goals at BC were her second and third goals in Conte Forum, as she notched her first career goal against the Eagles back in November.
Thiérus was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week twice (Nov. 4th, Feb. 10th) this season. In the 2019-20 season, Thiérus tallied two game winning goals, once at #9 Harvard (Nov. 23rd) and at Boston College (Feb. 7th).
With the all-rookie nod, Thiérus now joins her teammate Ava Boutilier (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) as current Wildcats who have been named to the All-Rookie team, after Boutilier's stellar freshman season in which she set the school's single-season saves record in 2017-18.
Thiérus and the Wildcats are headed to the Hockey East Semifinals against the University of Connecticut this Saturday, March 7 at 3:30 P.M. at Merrimack College. The winner of the semifinal matchup advances to the championship game the following Sunday, March 8 at 2 P.M., facing either Northeastern or Maine. Both semifinal games and the championship game will be hosted at Lawler Rink in North Andover, Mass.
