Brown Leads ‘Cats at URI

KINGSTON, R.I. – The University of New Hampshire men's track & field squad compete at the URI Coaches Tribute Meet this past Saturday, a meet hosted annually by Rhode Island in the Mackal Field House.
The Wildcats were led by senior Nicholas Brown (Conway, N.H.) who took UNH's only event win in the meet, with a first place finish in the 3000-meter run. Brown took first with a new personal best time of 8:45.04, leading the way for UNH in the meet.
In the high jump, sophomore Kevin McGrath (Hopkinton, N.H.) took runner-up in the high jump, with a jump of 6'7"; his personal best in the event was set earlier this season at 6'8.25".

The Wildcats have one more weekend in between this meet and the America East Indoor Championships held at the BU Track & Tennis Center in Boston, Mass. The Wildcats head back to BU one more time in the meantime, competing in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Friday, February 14th ahead of the conference championship beginning on Friday, February 21.

- In the 60-meter hurdles, junior Michael Monahan (Tewksbury, Mass.) took third with a time of 8.54 seconds.
- Two wildcats were top-five in the 1000m, with senior Samuel Lanternier (Derry, N.H.) taking third overall with a time of 2:30.70. The fifth place finisher was freshman Dillon Adamy (Clinton, N.J.) with a time of 2:33.15, his first collegiate result in the 1000m.
- Two Wildcats were also in the top five in the shot put, with junior Jacob Dearborn (Wolfeboro, N.H.) taking fourth place with a throw of 46'1.25". Sophomore John King Jr. (Derry, N.H.) was right behind him in fifth with a new personal best throw of 45'3.75".
- Fifth-year Thomas Chant (North Conway N.H.) took fourth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.09 seconds.
- The 4x400m relay team of senior Matthew Adams (Concord, N.H.), Dillon Adamy, freshman William Curran (Old Saybrook, Conn.), and Samuel Lanternier took third, with a time of 3:32.93.
