Astle, Hobbs, McGrath Top Performers for UNH at Valentine Invite

Three top-5 finishes and several new career marks highlight the Wildcats’ day at BU.
BOSTON – The University of New Hampshire men's track & field team took on the on a tough regional invitational in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University this Saturday, February 15.
The Wildcats had three athletes finish in the top five in their events, one of them winning the event, and several other Wildcats setting career bests in the meet.
UNH's results were once again highlighted by senior Zachary Astle (Newbury, N.H.) who won the weight throw with a new personal best distance of 65'7.75", beating his old career mark by over an inch (65'6".) Also competing in the weight throw was junior Jacob Dearborn (Wolfeboro, N.H.) who took sixth in his flight with a distance of 49'9". His best throw was good for a 19th overall placement.
In the long jump, sophomore school record holder Nate Hobbs (Peabody, Mass.) once again competed in the long jump, taking third in his flight (fourth overall) with a distance of 23'3.25". He was joined in the event by sophomore multi-eventer Brian Genet (Merrimack, N.H.) who took 2nd in his flight with a distance of 21'1.5", finishing in 22nd place in the final standings.
In the high jump, sophomore Kevin McGrath (Hopkinton, N.H.) found himself towards the top of the final standings, with a leap that cleared 6'6.75", placing him in a three-way tie for fourth overall.
UP NEXT: The Wildcats will return to the BU Track & Tennis Center next Friday and Saturday, February 21 and 22, for the America East Indoor Championships.

Other Wildcats competing in the meet were:
- Senior Matthew Adams (Concord, N.H.) was UNH's top finisher in the 500-meter run, taking third in his section, and 13th overall, with a new personal best time of 1:04.98. He was joined by freshman Kenny McElroy (West Linn, Ore.) who took fourth in his section, 43rd overall, also with a new career-best time (1:07.78).
- Four Wildcats competed in the 1000m, led by senior Samuel Lanternier (Derry, N.H.) with a time of 2:28.72. His time just barely missed his personal best of 2:28.39, as he was the fifth place finisher in his section, 33rd overall.
- In another section, UNH had three finishers in a row with junior Aidan Sullivan (Nashua, N.H.) in third, freshman William Curran (Old Saybrook, Conn.) in fourth, and senior Alexander Saveliev (Concord, N.H.) in fifth. Sullivan's time of 2:29.49 was a new personal best, and placed him 40th overall. Curran's time of 2:30.43 put him in 44th overall, and Saveliev's 2:21.08 was good for 52nd overall.
- In the 800m, sophomore Ian Daly (Meredith, N.H.) set a new personal best time of 1:53.89 as he finished second in his section, 54th overall.
- The field of Wildcats in the mile was led by senior Nicolas Sevilla-Connelly (Chester, N.H.) who set a new career-best time in the mile at 4:15.19¸winning his section. His time placed him 117th overall.
- Also in the mile was freshman Dillon Adamy (Clinton, N.J.), also with a new personal best time of 4:17.58. Adamy finished fifth in his section and his time placed him at 143rd overall.
- Junior Dylan McLaughlin (Moultonborough, N.H.) took seventh in his section with a time of 4:19.78, placing 170th overall. His time just barely missed his career-best of 4:19.39.
