STORYLINES
UNH has a 1-3 overall record that includes 1-1 in America East and 1-1 at home; the Wildcats are 0-2 against non-conference foes (both on the road).
Senior guard Amanda Torres was named America East Player of the Week on Monday. It was her first collegiate weekly award. Torres averaged 16.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in the weekend split versus the Highlanders. In Sunday's 59-53 comeback win, the captain matched her career high with 20 points on 8-for-15 shooting and set a personal best with seven rebounds.
UNH head coach Kelsey Hogan recorded her first career win Dec. 6 when UNH rallied to defeat NJIT, 59-53, at Lundholm Gym.
Hogan made her debut as head coach Nov. 25 at BC. She was named the seventh head coach in program history Aug. 10, 2020. Hogan had been named interim head coach back on April 15.
UNH has used the same starting lineup all four games.
UNH leads the America East conference in steals per game (8.5) as well as free throws made (52), attempted (70) and percentage (74.3%).
UMass leads the all-time series, 17-13. Last December, the Minutewomen held on for a 67-65 win at Mullins Center. It was the first meeting between the programs in a decade; UNH won the previous meeting, 58-57, at home on Nov. 20, 2009.
Sunday's Scribbles
Here are some notes scribbled down following UNH's 59-53 win vs. NJIT (Dec. 6 at Lundholm Gym).
Head coach Kelsey Hogan recorded her first career win.
Senior guard Amanda Torres matched her career high of 20 points and pulled down a personal-best seven rebounds.
Sophomore guard Brooke Kane recorded her first career double-double (and first double-double of the season for UNH) with career highs of both 14 points and 11 rebounds. Kane also established personal bests in assists (five) and steals (three).
Freshman guard Adara Groman scored in double digits for the first time with 11 points.
Go-Go-Gogolin
Junior forward and captain Ivy Gogolin led UNH in points (15), rebounds (nine) and assists (four) -- and tied for the team lead in both steals (two) and blocks (one) -- in the Dec. 5 home game vs. NJIT. The four assists marked a career high. Gogolin became the first -- and is the only -- Wildcat to lead New Hampshire in both points and rebounds in a game this season.
