Reid picked by Nashville and Engarås drafted by Edmonton.
SEACAUCUS, N.J. - University of New Hampshire freshman defenseman Luke Reid (Warman, Saskatchewan) and junior forward Filip Engarås (Stockholm, Sweden) were each selected in the 2020 NHL Draft. The draft was held Wednesday at the NHL Network Studios.
Reid was drafted in the sixth round by the Nashville Predators and was the 166th overall pick, while Engarås was taken just three picks later in the sixth round by the Edmonton Oilers with the 169th overall pick.
"We are very excited for both Filip and Luke," said UNH head coach Mike Souza. "The Oilers and Predators each drafted a prospect that they can be very proud of. Our coaching staff is excited to share in their development."
UNH has now had 95 players selected in the NHL Draft in program history.
The Wildcats have six NHL Draft picks on the 2020-2021 roster. Reid and Engarås are joined by teammates senior goalie Mike Robinson (Bedford, N.H.), senior defenseman Benton Maass (Elk River, Minn.), junior forward Angus Crookshank (North Vancouver, British Columbia) and junior goalie Ty Taylor (Richmond, British Columbia) as current Wildcat draftees.
Robinson (86th overall) was taken in the 2015 Draft by the San Jose Sharks, while in 2017 Maass (182nd overall) was selected by the Washington Capitals. Then in 2018 Crookshank (126th overall) was drafted by the Ottawa Senators and Taylor (214th overall) was picked by the Tampa Bay Lighting.

Reid has arrived to UNH for his freshman season after playing for the Chicago Steel (USHL) in 2018-2019 and 2019-20 where he totaled four goals and 34 assists for 38 points over 105 games. He was a major factor in the team winning the 2019-20 Anderson Cup for capturing the USHL regular season championship. He was also named to the U.S. Junior Select Team for World Junior A Challenge where he was a member of the bronze medal winning team.

Engarås posted eight goals and seven assists for a total of 15 points last season for UNH as he scored two game-winning goals. He netted his first collegiate goal on the game winner in the 3-2 win over Princeton on Nov. 30, 2019, at the Friendship Four in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Engarås tallied a career-best three points with three assists as the Wildcats defeated No. 11 Northeastern, 5-4 in overtime on Jan. 11, 2020. He also scored his second game-winner of the season in the 2-1 victory over Vermont on Feb. 8, 2020. As a freshman he won the team's Charles E. Holt Coaches Award for his contributions to the team both on and off the ice. Prior to UNH, he played three seasons for Skellefteå AIK in Sweden.
