Sutherlin, Guadarrama Lead 'Cats Past UMBC, 65-60

DURHAM, N.H. – Sean Sutherlin (New Brighton, Minn.) recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 14 points and 14 rebounds to lead the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team to Saturday afternoon's 65-60 win against UMBC.
Sutherlin had a strong shooting performance from the floor (6-for-9) and also hit a pair of foul shots. Nick Guadarrama (Newington, Conn.) shot 5-8 from the field, which included 2-4 from the 3-point line, as well as 5-5 from the free throw line to finish with a team-high 17 points. He scored the last four points of the game – all from the foul line – in the final 10 seconds to secure the win.
K.J. Jackson led the way for UMBC with a game high 22 points and nine rebounds. Brandon Horvath and R.J. Eytle-Rock added 14 and 12 points, respectively.
UNH improves to 7-1 at home, 9-9 overall and 2-3 in America East. UMBC falls to 7-12 on the season and 0-4 in America East.

FIRST HALF
•UNH opened the game with three buckets inside the paint to give the Wildcats a 6-5 lead at 16:11.
•Marque Maultsby (Raleigh, N.C.) and Chris Lester (Barrington, Ill.) hit back-to-back 3-pointers to extend UNH's lead to 14-9 at 11:56.
•The Wildcats continued to extend the lead with a 9-2 run to advance the score to 23-11 at 6:33.
