Murdock Paces ‘Cats at Coast to Coast

The fifth-year senior debuts with a top-40 finish.
JAMAICA PLAIN, Mass. – University of New Hampshire fifth-year senior Shannon Murdock (Exeter, N.H.) was the top finisher for the women's cross country team in the 2019 Coast to Coast Battle in Beantown hosted by Boston College at Franklin Park. The Wildcats finished 10th in the team scores in a field of top collegiate cross country programs.
Murdock finished the 5K course in 18:16.9, just a few seconds short of her personal best in the event, set at the 2017 Coast to Coast Invitational. The event was Murdock's first cross country race since sitting out the 2018 season due to redshirt. Murdock was 40th overall in the individual standings.
The second top finisher for the Wildcats was senior Meg Champagne (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) finishing 55th with a time of 18:29.5.
The race's individual winner was Providence's Abbey Wheeler; Syracuse took first in the team standings with a score of 35.

After a weekend off, the Wildcats head to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh on Saturday, October 5.

- Junior Elisabeth Danis (Nottingham, N.H.) was the next Wildcat across the line with a time of 18:36.1 in 63rd.
- Senior Madeline Quigley (Rowley, Mass.) took 76th with a time of 18:48.5.
- In her 2019 debut, junior Caroline Mahoney (Bedford, N.H.) finished with a time of 18:50.9 in 80th place.

- Rounding out the UNH scorers was junior Cayla Barretto (Woburn, Mass.) with a 99th place finish and a time of 19:08.1.
