King, Astle lead Wildcats in Pre-Conference Invitational

New Hampshire finishes third in the team score.
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's track & field team hosted the annual pre-conference meet on Saturday afternoon, giving athletes in the region one final chance to qualify for their conference meet or improve their seed time. UNH hosted UMass, UMass Lowell, Maine, Vermont, and Dartmouth in the meet.
The Wildcats had two event wins in the throws, with freshman John King Jr. (Derry, N.H.) winning the javelin throw with a distance of 177 feet, 6 inches, and junior Zachary Astle (Newbury, N.H.) took first in the shot put with a distance of 53'6.25".
Freshman Emmanuel Nkounkou (Dover, N.H.) took runner up in the high jump with a height of 6'0.75".
Freshman Michael Monahan (Tewksbury, Mass.) was the runner up in the 110 meter hurdles; Monahan finished in 14.87 seconds, breaking his old personal best of 14.97.
Freshman Chris Pinkham (Concord, N.H.) took runner up in the 400m, with a time of 51.22 seconds, a new personal best. Junior Casey Farrell (Glastonbury, Conn.) was in third finishing in 52.82 seconds.
Senior Davis Clark (Manchester, N.H.) took runner up in the 5000 meter run, finishing in 14:58.03, a new personal best.
The Wildcats took third in the team score with 89 points, behind first place UMass and second-place UMass Lowell.

Other top performers for the Wildcats:
- Senior Duncan Holland (Nashua, N.H.) took fourth in the hammer throw with a throw of 162'3".
- Freshman Orion Clachar (Northwood, N.H.) took fourth in the 400m hurdles in 57.31 seconds
- Sophomore Ryan Dutille (East Longmeadow, Mass.) took fourth in the long jump with a distance of 21'6.25".
- The 4x400 team of Farrell, senior Robert Franger (Shrewsbury, Mass.), Pinkham, and freshman Ian Daly (Meredith, N.H.) took third in 3:28.31.
