Leonard's Four Points Leads 'Cats Past Hartford, 16-6

'Cats Win Third Straight Game to Improve to 7-3 Overall, 2-0 in America East
DURHAM, N.H. – Rylee Leonard (Coventry, R.I.) recorded a team-high four points to lead a balanced University of New Hampshire attack in the Wildcats' 16-6 win against the University of Hartford in women's lacrosse action at Wildcat Stadium.
Leonard finished the game with three goals and an assist and was one of five 'Cats to record multiple points.
UNH goalie Issy Torres (Elmhurst, Ill.) had all six of her saves in the second half. Elizabeth Blanding (Pittsford, N.Y.), Emily Curtis (Walpole, Mass.) and Lily Powell (Marcellus, N.Y.) each scored two goals. Michele Smith (Wantagh, N.Y.) finished with a goal and an assist.
Taylor Dudek (Amherst, N.H.) tallied five ground balls and four caused turnovers, while Gabby Masseur (Nashua, N.H.) was credited with five ground ball and three caused turnovers. Delaney Pratt (Lafayette, Colo.) had a game-high five draw controls.
Hartford goalkeeper Cassidy Hock made 10 of her 14 saves in the first half. Lily Belle Baker led the Hawks' offense with three goals. Melissa Gratwick had two. Baker also finished with a team-high four ground balls. Suzanna Cantwell tallied three caused turnovers, two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
UNH extended its win streak to three games to improve to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in America East. Hartford is now 1-11, 0-2.

* UNH scored the initial seven goals of the game and took a 1-0 lead at 28:46 on a goal from Leonard.

* With an assist from Leonard, Mickenzie Larivee (Amherst, N.H.) gave the 'Cats an 8-1 lead at 10:47.
* Abby Cranney (Amherst, N.H.) scored an unassisted goal at 9:49 to push the margin to 9-1.
* UNH's 10th goal was scored at 6:26, set up by Smith and shot in Powell.
* Julia Neyland (Boxborough, Mass.) caused a turnover near midfield, collected the ground ball and went into attack mode with two defense players right on her heels, but got the goal at 5:25 to give the Wildcats a double-digit lead, 11-1.
SECOND HALF
* Hartford netted the first goal at 28:53 by Gratwicke off a rebound and ground ball in front of the cage.
* Leonard made an overhead shot at 27:50 for her third goal of the game that reestablished a 10-goal margin, 12-2.
* Curtis scored her first career goal at 23:18 on a free-position shot to give the home team a 13-2 advantage.
* Sabrina Grovom (Marcos, Calif.) potted her first goal of the season at 19:23 off a rebound of her own shot.
* The Hawks scored back-to-back goals from Baker at 17:49 and Billy McLaughlin at 14:33 to close within 14-4.
* At 11:05, Curtis made a spin move to dodge the defense to score her second goal of the game resulted in a 15-4 lead.
* Hartford's Baker netted an unassisted goal off a rebound at 9:20, then struck again for her third goal of the game at 3:20 with an assist from Debbie Phillips.
* With 40 seconds left on the clock, UNH's Pratt scored her first career goal to create the final score of 16-6.

* UNH went 3-0 on its homestand.
* This is the Wildcats' second three-game win streak of the season.
