Hoerner, Buckmire Pace ‘Cats at URI Coaches Tribute

KINGSTON, R.I. – The University of New Hampshire men's track & field team took on the University of Rhode Island coaches tribute meet in preparation for their appearance at the America East indoor championships taking place later this month.
With no team scores being recorded, the Wildcats aimed to improve their best marks and get one more practice meet in before the conference championships, just two weekends away. The Wildcats were led by their two individual event winners; sophomore Jordan Buckmire (Nashua, N.H.) took first in the triple jump with a best mark of 47 feet, seven inches, just missing his personal best by three inches. Buckmire also finished top-five in the long jump, taking fourth with a distance of 20'8.5".
On the track, senior Brett Hoerner (Manchester, N.H.) took first in the 800 meter run, with a time of 1 minutes, 56.71 seconds. He was followed up by sophomore Aidan Sullivan (Nashua, N.H.) in third in 1:58.01.

After a week off, the Wildcats head back to Boston University for the 2018-19 America East Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, February 22 to Saturday, Feb. 23.

- Sophomore Michael Monahan (Tewksbury, Mass.) took runner-up in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.47 seconds.
- In the high jump, freshman Emmanuel Nkounkou (Dover, N.H.) was in a three-way tie for second with a height of 6'2.75".
- Junior Samuel Lanternier (Derry, N.H.) took third in the 1000m run with a new personal best time of 2:30.53. Right behind him in fourth was junior Aaron Dobe (Contoocook, N.H.) with a personal best time of 2:30.73.
- Senior Eric Brogioli (Milford, Mass.) took third in the weight throw with a throw of 55'2.75". Junior Edward Speidel (Dover, N.H.) took fourth with 52'5.5".
- In the 400m dash, junior Joseph Hook (Rockaway, N.J.) took fourth in 51.29 seconds.
- Senior Thomas Chant (North Conway, N.H.) took fifth in the 60m dash in 7.18 seconds.
- In the shot put, senior Hani Traboulsi (Bensalem, Pa.) took fifth with a throw of 47'9".
