Wildcats’ Streak Ends at #7 BC

New Hampshire falls to Boston College 7-1
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Riding a five-game winning streak, the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team fell to #7 Boston College on Friday evening by a score of 7-1 at Conte Forum.
The Eagles outshot the Wildcats 34 to 19 in the contest, giving New Hampshire little space to respond.
UNH's lone goal came from junior Abby Chapman (Beverly Hills, Mich.), scoring her first goal of the season in the opening minutes of the second period to cut BC's two-goal lead to just one. BC would tally four third period goals to secure the victory over New Hampshire. The loss also snapped a two-game UNH winning streak in the all-time series between the two teams.
Senior captain Kyra Smith (Littleton Colo.) stopped was unable to keep the 'Cats in it despite 27 saves on the evening. Her record falls to 12-8-2 on the season.

GAME RECAP
- Boston College struck first 7:41 into the opening period when a scrum in front of the net resulted in a rebound to Belinskas who knocked it home.
- After three consecutive penalties all within three minutes of each other, neither team was able to score on their respective power plays or on the 4-on-4.
- As the first period wound down, BC defender Megan Keller took a shot from the slot and hit it off the right post and in, for a 2-0 Eagles lead.
- New Hampshire responded 1:57 into the second period, as a long outlet pass from Emily Rickwood (Brantford, Ontario) was sent up-ice from the defensive zone to Nicole Dunbar (Coto de Caza, Calif.) who shot the puck cross-ice from left to right and Abby Chapman tucked it past Pickreign.
- On a penalty for high-sticking 6:32 into the second period, Boston College answered back to go back up by two goals. It was Keller's second goal of the evening.
- Boston College unleashed a flurry of goals in the third period, with three coming within the first six minutes of the period and a late power play goal in the final minute to cap it off.
- A potential power play goal from senior Devan Taylor (North Billerica, Mass.) was poked into the net with 3:02 left in the third, but a BC challenge negated the goal due to goaltender interference.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Seven goals is the most goals the Wildcats have allowed this season. The last time the Wildcats allowed six or more goals was also against Boston College in January of 2018 (6-0 loss.)
- It was also the most goals allowed this season since November 10th, a 5-3 loss to #6 Northeastern
- New Hampshire is now 8-3-2 when coming off a win this season, and 2-6-1 against ranked opponents.
- UNH took 19 shots on net in the contest; the Wildcats are 0-3-0 when being held to 19 shots or less in a game.
