Wenczkowski’s two goals propelled the ‘Cats past #10 BC
WAKEFIELD, Mass. – University of New Hampshire redshirt junior Taylor Wenczkowski (Rochester, N.H.) has been named the Hockey East Player of the Week for her performance against #10 Boston College this past Saturday.
Trailing by a goal entering the third period of play, Wenczkowski propelled the Wildcats to their first third-period come-from-behind victory, scoring two goals in the final 15 minutes of play.
Wenczkowski tallied a power play goal just 10 seconds into a five-on-three power play to tie the game at two goals, and then 10 minutes later scored the game-winner after being taken down by a BC defender.
The win was UNH's second straight win against the Boston College, dating back to February of 2018, where the Wildcats defeated the #3-ranked Eagles by a score of 2-1 in Conte Forum. The win was UNH's first win over a ranked opponent this season.
The award is UNH's first weekly award of the 2018-19 season. The Wildcats, with the win, are now 6-0-2 in their last eight games.
Wenczkowski and the Wildcats waste no time getting right back into action, traveling to Yale for a Tuesday night matchup on ESPN+. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 P.M. at Ingalls Rink.
