New Hampshire wraps up the December schedule with quad-meet at Dartmouth.
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's track & field team takes on the Dartmouth quad-meet this Saturday, December 8 as they round out the fall semester.
The Wildcats will be in the running with Dartmouth, Vermont, and Maine in the quad-meet that is set to begin at 11 A.M. in Hanover, N.H.
New Hampshire is looking to continue building on their season-opening first-place team finish at the Maine dual meet last weekend.
The Wildcats are led by throwers Zachary Astle (Newbury, N.H.) and Eric Brogioli (Milford, Mass.) who both scored in the shot put and the weight throw last weekend. Throws have been the strength of the Wildcats in recent seasons and Astle and Brogioli look to continue that early in the season.
UNH also looks for big contributions in the distance and middle distance events from Brett Hoerner (Manchester, N.H.), Spenser Sawyer (Windham, N.H.) and Thomas Chant (North Conway, N.H.) who both had a big Saturday at the Maine meet as well.
The Wildcats also look to newcomers in the jumps including freshman Emmanuel Nkounkou (Dover, N.H.) and sophomore Jordan Buckmire (Nashua, N.H.) after scoring in the Maine meet.
UP NEXT:
After finals and a winter break, the Wildcats resume the indoor track season with a home dual meet with Holy Cross at Paul Sweet Oval in the UNH Fieldhouse on Saturday, January 19 at 12 P.M.

Astle took the shot put with a distance of 50'10.75". He reached a distance of 55 feet last year when he won gold at the America East indoor championship.
Of those 11 first-place finishes, seven of them came in a short sprint, distance, or hurdle event. The duo of Brett Hoerner and Samuel Lanternier (Derry, N.H.) took first and second in the indoor mile, Hoerner winning the event with a time 4 minutes, 20.69 seconds. FROM THE COACH:
"This meet is a good opportunity to continue improving and keep our progression going. I think we had a great weekend at Maine, got good results out of our throwers, our distance runners, and getting some good jumps out of our younger guys."
